Chinese New Year

We celebrated Chinese New Year today with Cathy's family. Here are the girls dressed in their traditional outfits.

Claire, of course, dared to be different. To her credit, it is her traditional church outfit, so at least in her mind she's dressed up.

And, yes, on occasion we let her wear shorts to church. But only once a week.

A full picture of Emma's outfit -

And one of our nephew Jake in between bursts of energy.

Claire's Science Project

Not one to be out-done, Claire also put together her science project, using a tri-fold piece of cardboard from a toy.

So, Claire, what is your science fair project about?

"Nothing," said Claire.

And so it is.

Emma's Science Project

The Harmony Science Fair was held yesterday. This was Emma's first time to do one. Everyone in fourth grade through eighth grade participates.

As you can see, Emma's project was about growing beans in different soils.

While she didn't win, she had a good time with it. Emma had to write a paper and make a presentation to the class. She aced both. Emma did almost all the work herself - picking the soils, preparing the pots, watering and maintaining the plants, taking the pictures, and collecting the data. She had help printing the photos and making the board.

She's already thinking about next year's project.
