The Fruits of Her Labor

Emma has earned "the most prestigious award in the world for girls and the most difficult to earn" - the Girl Scout Gold Award.

For her project, Emma developed the curriculum for an elementary school STEM club. She then led the club, with a team of volunteers, bringing a variety of science and engineering projects to the students.

To help sustain the club after she graduates, Emma created this website to pass on the knowledge and experience she gained.

Congratulations, Emma, on a job well done!

Gold!

While in Georgia, we headed north from Atlanta to Dahlonega and the Consolidated Gold Mine.

The first thing is to pan for gold. The girls rolled up their sleeves and got to work. Now they are much richer for the effort.

Then it's into the old gold mine. Claire was the safety engineer since she's the only one who grabbed a hard hat.

Here are some of the blasting holes.

And the machine that helped make them.

All in all, a very interesting day, both above ground and below.

Chick-fil-A

The Christmas season found us in Atlanta, visiting my brother. Our first stop was the Chick-fil-A Backstage Tour.

We basically had a private tour as the other family scheduled to join us failed to show up.

You start at the billboard...

Then to a mock-up of the original restaurant -

Then you spend time with the CFA founder's car collection.
