Eliminators Cruise

Emma and the Eliminators cruised to another blow-out victory, winning 10-3, on a cloudy, rain-threatening Saturday afternoon. Emma displayed outstanding defensive work and tended goal well.

While held scoreless, she led several breaks that resulted in scoring opportunities for her teammates.

Emma Spring Soccer

Emma's Spring soccer season has started and Saturday was her first game (she missed the season opener to attend the Aggie Spring football game).

Emma scored a goal, gave up a goal, and knocked down a boy. And her team won, 10-1. An all-around excellent day.

She models her uniform, once again green. Must be the Irish in her.

And they're off!

In this league, the ages range from 10 to 15. Emma works to get around one of the giants.

Always strong on defense.

Alas, the one goal allowed was a wee bit tall for her.

And finally, the part everybody loves - taking someone down.

Instead of the elbow, Emma was little more subtle. See how she strategically placed her left foot on his right toes. Smooth.

Emma - Girl Scouts STRIDERS

Last Sunday Emma competed in the Girl Scout STRIDERS program. This is basically a non-competitive track meet. Each girl chooses six events. One Emma picked was the running long jump. From across the field I was able to capture this series. Click to enlarge, if you dare.

Claire

Claire at a friend's birthday party.

Emma in Aggieland

Emma and I have made a number of trips to Aggieland this spring to watch various teams represent America's Finest University.

At a women's basketball game, Emma and I saw the national championship trophy the Aggies won in 2011.

Then at a soccer game, Emma was selected to be a ball kid and help retrieve errant shots. It turned out to be somewhat less exciting that she hoped. But the Aggies won so all's good.

Christmas Snow

We were blessed with Christmas snow as a storm moved through the area that afternoon and evening. Since there was not enough snow to construct a real snow man, we went straight to the requisite snowball fight.

Emma takes a powder from Uncle Matthew.

Claire is next, but one finds a moving target difficult to hit. Note the lack of proper gloves, shoes, coats, or hats. This battle won't (and didn't) last long.

Claire fires back at close range.

Emma exacts her revenge.

And with wet gloves and cold hands the battle ends almost as soon as it began. Based on historic trends, we should be able to resume this fight in about eight years.

Happy New Year!
