Flying Into Five

Claire celebrated her fifth birthday (yes, I know I'm late) at a local gymnastics establishment. She spent most of her time airborne.

Butterfly Pavilion

Last stop before heading home, the Butterfly Pavilion in Westminster, near Denver.

Water World

Back in Denver for some swimming in cold, mountain water.

Cave of the Winds

Still in Colorado Springs, our next stop was the Cave of the Winds.

Cheyenne Mountain Zoo

The next day in Colorado found us in Colorado Springs at the Cheyenne Mountain Zoo.

Denver Museum of Nature & Science

From our recent vacation in Colorado. The first stop - the Denver Museum of Nature & Science. Luckily, it was Free Day - no cost to enter. For Colorado residents only, though. But, since no one asked, we didn't tell.

Schlitterbahn Galveston

Claire asked me why Emma was first on the website, so here's a few of her from our trip to Schlitterbahn.

Claire's Braids

For reasons known only to the mind of a four-year-old, Claire wanted her hair in braids.

Emma

Emma at Claire's End of Year Program:

Claire's End of Year Program

Claire finished her year at Kolbe Kids with a rousing singing and dancing performance.

Emma's Kumon Honor Roll

Emma made the 2009 Kumon Reading Honor Roll and earned her first trophy.

Emma's Bridging Ceremony

On May 15, Emma completed her second year in Girl Scouts and bridged from Daisy to Brownie. I'm sure Cathy could explain it better than me.

Power Outage

Finally getting caught up on my blogging. Here's some pictures from our most recent power outage (April 27). No flash, just a flashlight for lighting.

First, Emma makes a scary face:

Now Claire and Cathy, but not so scary:

Emma's Culture

Emma's recent school project was about family history and culture. With just a little help from Mom and Dad, she put together this board and then presented it to the first-grade and kindergarten classes at Harmony.

Girl Scout Camping

One of the perks of being a Girl Scout leader is being able to go to a leader/daughter weekend once a year. This year it was over Valentine's Day weekend. This Girl Scout camp is located in La Porte, east of Houston along the ship channel. We stayed in a dorm with other leaders and their daughters. It's from Friday night until Sunday morning. We eat and do most of our activities and crafts in the lodge.

It's just a nice, relaxing weekend. Emma loves going because this is as close as she gets to camping. We are not a camping family and this as "rough" as it gets at a Girl Scout camp.

The Barbie Jeep

A beautiful nearly-spring day means it's time to break out the Barbie Jeep. Clear the deck - Emma's driving:

And now hand the wheel to Claire. We're gonna need a wider driveway:

Time to run:

Yes, Claire is not wearing any pants. Now ride the trike:

The Jet

The other night we were at the local park when Emma looked up and said "Rocket". Luckily I had my camera. The sun was setting behind the plane and lit the vapor trail.

As the plane turned away from the setting sun, I shot this:
